Risk of measles when travelling in Europe

Click here to read a letter from Dr. Éamonn O'Moore, Thames Valley Health Protection Unit about the risk of measles in children returning from the Easter holidays in continental Europe.

The HPA recently highlighted this risk and advised people to be vaccinated before travelling. However, it is likely that many children will have travelled without having been vaccinated at all or only with one dose of MMR so the risk of imported cases remains high.

Health service professionals are emphasising the need to be aware of signs and symptoms of measles to avoid risks of children going to school or attending healthcare services while infectious. This letter gives more details on this matter
