Spring Sleepover

What makes a great sleepover?

37 children, 10 adults, some lasagne, pizza, ice cream and lots of fun!!!

Friday 12th March 2010 was the night of The Great Spring Sleepover.  There were moments during the afternoon that we wondered if it was going to happen due to our fire alarm technical problem, but with the help of Mrs Pither, Miss Johns and a very nice engineer all problems were solved!  We opened the school doors at 6.30pm and welcomed 37 children from years 3, 4, 5 & 6 with all their bedding, teddies, torches and most importantly the most amazing pair of light up glasses, courtesy of one of the boys!

The evening started with making some pretty flowers for the Mums for Mothers Day, Miss Copley showed everyone how to make them and many beautiful flowers were created. The evening progressed with lots of games from Beetle Drives, to Sleeping Lions!  Dinner was served in between and lots of empty plates highlighted the children’s appreciation for the food prepared, cooked and served by a team of parents.

Following more games and activities, PJ’s were dug out and dressing gowns were snuggled into whilst we all had a cup of hot chocolate and a few biscuits!

Then the “sleepover” really began – no more needs to be said except without an amazing team of teachers, a bucket load of patience, lots of homework marked and some excellently behaved children, the night’s sleep could not have begun so well!  All I will say is, that this year the boys “won” by miles when it came to getting off to sleep first!

Saturday morning arrived with a few bleary eyes but great humour!  Another team of parents arrived to serve breakfast and cereal and toast were enjoyed by everyone.  Some more games kept everyone busy and then parents arrived about 8.30am to collect the children and everyone left with smiles on their faces……even if the eyes were a little tired!!

Thank you so much to all those children that came to the sleepover, but particular thanks goes to the team of teaching staff who stayed all night and without whom this event would not be possible.  Miss Johns, Mrs Cotterill, Miss Copley, Mr Winter and Mr Cannings were all fantastic and also we really appreciate Duncan Macpherson for joining us at midnight to stay over!

More “thank you’s” to the “evening team” (Miss Allum, Michelle Donoghue, Andrew Castle, Mark Croll and Liz Johnson) and the “morning team” (Sylvia Cann, Kate Forbes, Eve Smith and Malin Rodgers) .

Finally and what is really just a huge bonus is we raised another £257 for WHPTA, thank you!
