Wildmoor Heath Primary School

Environment

The environment is a key area of enrichment at Wildmoor Heath where our beautiful grounds offer pupils year-round opportunities to learn and grow through outdoor exploration. These enriching experiences inspire curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong respect for the natural world. We also utilise the surrounding environment in Crowthorne, Wildmoor Heath and beyond.

Outdoor learning sessions take place in our vast school grounds, where we make use of our field, sensory garden, growing area and our designated Forest School area, 'Wildwood'. Meaningful curriculum links are made by class teachers, providing hands-on exploration of topics throughout the school year. Find out more on our 'Outdoor Learning' page.

Forest School sessions are enjoyed annually in Wildwood, with each year group participating in six sessions per year. Our Forest School trained staff facilitate a diverse range of outdoor activities, that develop resilience, creativity, team work and foster a connection with nature. Find out more about our ethos and what we do on the 'Wildwood - Forest School' page.

Eco Ambassadors play an important role in our school by leading and inspiring environmental initiatives, promoting sustainability, and encouraging peers to take responsibility for the planet. Our goal is to achieve the Eco Schools Green Flag Award by completing an action plan which demonstrates commitment to environmental education and positive action.

Beyond school grounds, pupils explore the immediate local environment through visits to nearby Wildmoor Heath Nature Reserve and Crowthorne. Pupils also thoroughly enjoy our residential trips in Year 4 to Beaulieu, (New Forest) and Year 6 to Rhos-Y-Gwaliau  (North Wales) where learning is memorable and enhanced in breathtaking real world settings away from home.
